F1 racing is regularly seen as one of the most exhilarating sports events throughout the world. The car racing championship grew out of European GPs and resulted in a set of rules being made, leading to the first F1 races in 1950. Although the tournament races have taken place all over the globe, one constant is always there - the car firms who invest money into their teams annually. The landmark motor car companies are Ferrari, Renault and Williams while in recent years Virgin and Red Bull have competed in races. The people have always watched for the drivers, from the majesty of Juan Manuel Fangio through to the determined driving of Michael Schumacher.

There are quite a few motor racing events each year which each appeal to different motor sports fans and each have specific racing tracks and rules. The FIA World Touring Car Championship is easily one of the most popular racing events in the jam packed motor sports diary. First formed in 1987, the WTCC series is held all around the world including locations like Macau, Morocco, Spain and Japan. Other popular auto racing championships include the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, the World Rally Championship and the Paris Dakar. The NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Le Mans Series are also extremely popular auto racing events.

Also known as automobile racing, car racing involves racing cars for competition and is easily one of the best televised sports in the world. Many experts think car racing began almost immediately after the first gasoline-powered vehicle was produced and it's thought the world's first car race in 1894 by a French magazine called Le Petit Journal. The very first car racing track ran from Paris to Rouen and attracted top motor manufacturers like Peugeot and De Dion and a plethora of private car owners. Although car racing continued to flourish over the years, the first pure racing vehicles weren't created until the 1930s, with exceptional performance vehicles from motor manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz and Delage changing the outlook of motor sports forever.
